DORTMUND SCHWANENTURM

The new “Schwanenturm” building is the final architectural chord for the historic Krämer Höfe in Dortmund's city center. 2,700 m2 of office and commercial space as well as three high-quality apartments complement the traditional August Krämer distillery, liqueur factory and chocolaterie. The special design and fine materials set new standards for architectural design in Dortmund's city center.

 

The Krämer Höfe are a micro-neighborhood for living and working, for stores, restaurants and leisure, shielded from traffic. Greened areas surround inner courtyards on various levels and create outdoor recreation areas. The courtyards themselves are characterized by buildings with historical character, but also by special elements such as driveways, gates, unusual staircases, green facades, roof gardens and a large, old plane tree.

The planned new “Schwanenturm” building will be a unique and prestigious commercial building for Dortmund, which will increase the diversity of users at the location and continue the high architectural standard. The decades-long friendship between architects and clients have produced this special work with a great deal of mutual understanding, willingness to work and attention to detail. The owners' family business, which has existed since 1863, is the heart of the courtyards and at the same time the point of contact and network partner for the tenants who settle in the courtyard. Liqueurs, spirits and fine truffle chocolates are handmade here according to old recipes and sold as specialties for the city of Dortmund.
